  More proof that adults remain children is found in NASA’s Pioneer 10 & 11 Spacecraft, which launched in 1972 and 1973 respectively.  Both missions were designed to snoop on Jupiter and Saturn, but — like any geek with too much money on hand — the scientists couldn’t resist a little sci-fi wet dreaming…
  

  In this case, the fantasies took the form of two gold anodized aluminum plaques, which were attached to the hull of the spacecraft as a happy welcome to any alien beings who happen to find them.

  

  Now this may seem rather dull, especially as we drool over the possibilities of the Large Hadron Collider, but let’s put the galactic screw up in context. 

  Famed physicist Stephen Hawking recently outted himself as an alien-believer, but he also warned that any aliens that find us will likely be highly dangerous:

  “If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans.”

  And just in case you think that Hawking is off his rocker, check out the slew of scientists who agree with him at the Journal of Cosmology. 

  Given this dire warning, it’s a bit disconcerting that the Pioneer plaques include a detailed map of Earth’s relative position in the galaxy.  Great job, guys.

  Our only hope is that the man with a tiny penis standing in “high five” position will scare them off.
